It is expensive to move, but know where to cut corners. Many homeowners think they can go without moving insurance during residential moves. But, too many times, moving insurance is needed. This is definitely a case of “better safe than sorry”. You don’t want to get caught without moving insurance when and if you need it.
Many homeowners wonder why they should insure goods against loss or damage. And, if they need movers insurance, does that mean that the moving company will be careless? But, moving insurance protects you from others, not just against errors caused by the moving company in Boston.
Here are some answers to a few simple questions:
- Is the moving company responsible for your belongings? No
- Are your belongings covered under your homeowners' or renters' insurance policy? No
- If you are relocating for work, is your new company responsible for loss or damage to your personal belongings? No
At Marathon Moving, we provide three options of insurance coverage.
- Basic Liability Insurance
If you do not pick any additional coverage, this moving insurance is provided at no additional cost. Under this coverage, maximum legal liability is limited to $0.60 per pound per article. This is not enough insurance protection for most situations. It is only recommended when it is accompanied by an insurance policy that covers your goods during transit.
- Transit Damage Protection
For homeowners who want more protection, we offer Transit Damage Protection. This insurance option meets most needs for a reasonable fee. Transit Damage Protection limits Marathon Moving Company, Inc.’s liability to the first $3000 at Actual Cash Value for damage repair/replacement. For amounts that exceed $3000, Marathon’s liability will be limited to $0.60 per pound per article.
- Actual Cash Value
This option is based on the declared actual cash value of the entire shipment. The cost of this option is based on the value declared and can be found on our premiums valuation table.
