When businesses begin a commercial move, we get many questions, but one of the most common is "Can any filing cabinets be moved with the files in them?"
Then answer is "Yes". At Marathon Moving we can move some full filing cabinets. The general rule of thumb is that any filing cabinets under three drawers, both vertical and lateral, can be moved full.
Filing cabinets larger than that should have some drawers emptied out in any office move.
On four and five drawer filing cabinets, you can leave the bottom 2 drawers full only. The top drawers should be empty. Leaving the bottom drawers full helps to stabilize the larger filing cabinets.
With locking file cabinets, they should be locked before the move and the person who owns the cabinet should be holding the key. Do not leave the key in the lock, they can get bent or locked.
